I am still learning to water ski.  A holiday in Jamaica in 1993 provided enough practice to succeed in staying upright for most of the time.  On holiday in Cyprus in 2000, a year after surgery,  I managed four sessions, on the last occasion managing a ten minute uninterrupted ski, including a graceful dismount at the end.  Posture remains a problem but the after effects of surgery, particularly on balance, made no difference whatsoever.
